Temperature Trends and Bleaching Thresholds

Information gathered from a network of automatic weather stations owned by AIMS, GBRMPA and JCU http://www.aims.gov.au/pages/facilities/weather-stations/weather-index.html provides an up to date picture of temperatures currently being experienced on the Great Barrier Reef Click for more information on Sensor Networks . This is especially important during summer because we get an idea of how heat stressed the corals are. These graphs, which are drawn automatically from the weather station data,show how the summer is unfolding and how these conditions compare to the mean and the very hot years of 1998 and 2002 when extensive coral bleaching occurred Berkelmans R, De'ath G, Kininmonth S and Skirving W. 2003.
