View from the weather stations

The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority Climate Change Program is dedicated to observing, understanding and reporting coral bleaching events and other climate change impacts on the Great Barrier Reef. The Climate Change Program provides regular reports on conditions on the reef throughout summer and publishes early warnings of increases in levels of stress or widespread bleaching of corals. The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority produces a comprehensive current conditions report for the summer of 2003/04. http://www.gbrmpa.gov.au/corp_site/info_services/science/bleaching/conditions_report.html

At the Australian Institute of Marine Science, remote weather stations on the reef and coast are maintained. http://www.aims.gov.au/pages/facilities/weather-stations/weather-index.html The following graphs show the condition at the weather station measured in half hourly intervals. This data is sent by High Frequency radio back to AIMS and then automatically checked and stored. This page creates the graph directly from the data. You can read more on the development of this sensor network here Click for more information on Sensor Networks .
